Sort of, while they are small like this I use our drinking water which is remineralised ro water, I’m just filling up 2L at a time though. As they get bigger I move onto 25L barrels but I fill them with just a 3 stage water filter, basically the pre filters from an ro system.
I run a 40/40 ro in the garage for work but it’s too suspect using that water, too many neighbours can see what I’m up to while I’m out there so filling barrels and taking them into the house is out of the question.
They like the filtered water, it removes the chlorine and heavy metals and stuff at least.

Nice mate. The HMA filters are much more convenient as you don't have the waste either. I need to replace my whole system soon. I've been running of a cheapo 50gpd ebay special with a huge pump and a uprated 150gpd membrane. It's done well as it's been in use for nearly three years now but it takes ages to fill up my resoviour! 80 ltrs takes about 4 hours atm.

It's rare I see other RO users out there so big up the RO mandem

You should look into a 40/40 ro, you’ll get 500L in about two to four hours depending on what brand membranes you go with. If your able to build the system yourself you’ll save loads of money, it’s worth building a flushing circuit into it as well then you can flush the ro before and after use helping to extend the life of the filters. 40/40 ro housings are quite cheap on eBay these days, I’ve literally just dumped a membrane that would have been good for plants, I need ultra pure water so as soon as ec rises they get changed, should start selling them really, for plants there’s probably another couple of years left in them.

Actually I just looked and they’ve gone right up, used to be able to get a 40/40 tube for under £50 but they’ve pretty much doubled in price at the moment

I'm intrigued, how do you remineralise ro water? Just add the salts from a packet?

No it comes from the ro and into a coconut filter that improves the taste then into a remineralisation filter that makes it safe to drink, ec is 0 and ph 8 ish
I’ve cubes come out crystal clear with this water

Interesting. So plain RO water is unsafe to drink due to a lack of minerals?
