So far so good and taste, smell and smoke has been amazing.
Dropping all the leaves can come at a price though, you can get root rot if timing is wrong and soil is all out of balance.

I am building compost and worm 🪱 bins. You need to let things compost and break down 1st really.

I am very happy with this so far. Everything seems to be going OK.

Oh and to try ensure I don't get any bad soil moulds/microbes and the root rot etc... I tend to use a OHN I have which should cover most stuff.

yeah ive got a worm bin and its been brilliant over the years, haven't been brave enough to use it indoors before though.
tell you what if they ever legalise it in the uk ill be converting the whole garden to grow organic, would be amazing

I have indoor worm bins for the fear of bringing in random insects and microbes but tbh, it shouldnt be a problem

I only ask cos we get loads of flies without the worm bin indoors, just a little pot of food scraps on the side is enough in our house.

No smell or flies unless over feeding or not burying the foods enough in the bedding/vermicast

If ya add too much food it can heat up causing a smell same as if you have too much wet material it can get anaerobic and smell. But when everything is in line it should smell like fresh forest

Your right it’s a fine art keeping the worm bin balanced, I’ve overfed mine before and it stinks.
We was at the point we could put all our scraps in each week and by the time the tray came round again it was just soil and the odd bit of egg shell, a tray went bad though and upset the whole thing. I’ve had to stop feeding and let it recover, haven’t put anything in for a while now and it’s a lot better, the worm population took a hit mind.
They are living in the greenhouse at the moment but as soon as it starts warming up again I’ll get them out into the garden and start feeding again slowly.

Kudos to trying to collect and apply IMO. I assume you have seen Chris Trump’s instructions about that?

Also probably wouldnt be a bad idea to incorporate some chunky charcoal to serve as microbe apartments in your soil. Brew up some LAB, get your hand on EM1, or dynomyco for that matter.

Everything has its plus and minus up and down. Perks and flaws.

I enjoy it. Experimenting, building simple mycelium and stuff.....

It's like when we do complicated work, just break things down into baby steps.
