Old School NL5 Living Soil Comparison Grow

We are at 1 week 4 days after flip.

The living soil clone has tighter node spacing and generally more biomass but the Canna organic nutes clone is thriving also, just not so big. The canna clone has had kelp and malted barley also to match the old way of doing things.

Slight correction, the living soil clone is in a 12ltr pot, not 11ltr. The topdress schedule is half that for a 20ltr pot so she's running slightly less than recommended but still looking good.

For the strain geeks out there, this NL is the old school American NL5 that was given to Neville (original Sensi seeds) who crossed it with an afghan to produce seeds.

I believe this is why the other NLs being grown currently in the diaries have the bigger afghan type leaves, along with some being crossed to NL2 (again, more afghanica) and sold as just 'Northern Lights'.

This pheno has a very strong but sweet grapefruit profile when done. Top quality smoke.

Cheeky group shot, just to keep the diary up there.

So many diaries going on currently, so good to see the community growing.

Here we have the living soil original NL5 far left, the canna comparison centre top.

There's two Guerilla Fume phenos bottom centre and top right. These are from Luckydog seed company owned by Skunk_VA who preserved the original Chemdog91 cut for 25 years before it hit the scene again. The top right pheno seems to be very chem91 leaning. I have another in veg and a male so next run will be a seed run for preservation. Supposed to be strong stuff.

Bottom right is an experiment. It is the original Sweettooth from Spice of Life seeds, but an accidental S1 produced due to a light leak previously. It's only in a 8ltr pot and I have to be careful to monitor herms, but even though the mother failed, the vape from the little bud produced was incredible. Just a bit of fun that one.

Living soil NL is way bigger, healthier, more biomass than the comparison..



The pot with no plant is another living soil pot just started cooking for two weeks ready for the Guerilla Fume seed run.

Getting the environment dialled in has been a big factor. The AC Infinity fan and controller has been a game changer.

Week 3

The living soil grow stalled a little while I sorted the water regime out. The canna bottled nutes clone likes 1 ltr every other day where as the living soil is taking 0.5 ltr per day which will soon increase I believe.

So Canna bottled nutes clone on the left has caught up a little. Still more biomass in the living soil grow and the nodes are closer in places.

Starting to frost and praying every morning, the frost on both smells of sweet grapefruit which is typical of this pheno.

New Leds and environment are getting dialled in, still a little humid at night so have to dig out the dehumidifier but these are minor tweaks.

Diary update at 4 weeks since flip

The Canna Bottles nutes has slightly larger flowers now but not as many as the living soil. I've been on the side of caution with the living soil amendments and it's just had its first "Bloom2" top dress so expecting some growth.





Both are frosting up alot which is normal for this pheno, when rubbed they have a strong sweet grapefruit smell.



The two Guerilla Fume phenos are stacking incredibly well also..
