Perhaps I should learn what happens when you feed them too much and work backwards rather than trying to be too cautious ;o)

You`ll struggle to overdo with a fully grown plant with ferts at strengths were talking about giving. I gave and grew running 2.8ec for years in flower before i understood it and realised it`s a waste of money, But summink like 1.6 - 1.8 ec is pretty standard i would say for lots of grows way were growing.

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
Hey @2-Scoops mate regarding the RO vs tap water, I think I have been a little confused and fucked that up as well.
Say I want a total EC feed of 1.4 EC:-
Say I want a total EC feed of 1.4 EC:-
- When using plain water you would ignore the background EC value (say 0.5 EC). So if I have a background of .5 EC I will still feed A&B @1.4 (giving a total EC of 1.9)
- When using the RO water the instructions are to add CalMag until an EC of .4. but what I have been doing is then adding A&B to get to the 1.4EC (giving me a total EC of 1.4)
I have loads of 'other' areas to stop wasting money on before cutting back on the A&B of which I now have 5 litres of each. I think I was maybe getting a little paranoid about over feeding and managed to achieve the opposite by under feeding mate. I remember you saying to watch the salt build up in the AutoPots after the '4' weeks of flowering but as I mentioned I somehow managed to reduce that 4 weeks down to 2 for fuck know why...

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
Add em together to 1.9ec in total mate its how i see it done by a few growers in hard water areas.Minty wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 10:54 pmHey @2-Scoops mate regarding the RO vs tap water, I think I have been a little confused and fucked that up as well.
Say I want a total EC feed of 1.4 EC:-
Basically I add say 10 litres of RO water and adjust with CalMag to .4 EC then add 'effectively' enough A&B to get me to the 'final' EC reading of 1.4 (which is only 1.0 EC of A&B). So I guess I have been calculating this incorrectly and that has probably been contributing to the underfeeding etc. Otherwise you`ll be feeding hardly anything and always be running into underferting woes n ways.

1.0 ec is prolly sound in flower towards back end of your grow tbh, they will slow down on uptake. But they`re gobbling it down first 3 or 4 weeks of bloom and at their hungriest growing fast, 1.4 - 1.6 should be more than sound at that time as well so yes 1.8 -2.0 ec in total.

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
Yes mate, I knew it for sure when using hard/tap water i.e. the background values but for some reason I disregarded that logic when adding the 'background' manually - because using RO water I was manually adding it I assumed it was part of the total EC feed rather than ignoring it as you would with hard water etc.
As you know mate, I'm a total twat 'sometimes' (but you love me anyway) and I think I am just going to remove the fucking 'Reverse Osmosis' water out of the equation now that I know how it all works a little better.

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
Ahh yes my bad sorry mate. Tbh i`m not totally sure but my thoughts are i can`t see it making much of a difference for nice sized plants cus under 2.0 ec for 4 weeks when you flip int really overdoing it and 0.4 + 1.4 int even that, but at end of shift plants look like they`re obviously needing more, i really think its prolly a simple fix/tweak and easy as just upping base ferts when you flip to bloom for a while, i`d prolly and maybe be a bit cautious to start with smaller plants till they are bigger.Minty wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 2:41 amYes mate, I knew it for sure when using hard/tap water i.e. the background values but for some reason I disregarded that logic when adding the 'background' manually - because using RO water I was manually adding it I assumed it was part of the total EC feed rather than ignoring it as you would with hard water etc.

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
Re this ^^^^^ So after loadsa pondering i think its gonna be totally different, basically yes cool disregard tap water ec cus most minerals in that, alot of it is calcium carbonate and is too big to be took in by roots from the off where as if using calmag unless its organic i think its generally calcium oxide used that can be taken in by roots more or less instantly. So my thoughts are theirs quite possibly a much bigger chance of causing overfert type symptoms with the latter one than their is first one. I might be wrong though and not totally sure, tis just my pondering thoughts. :)2-Scoops wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 3:14 amAhh yes my bad sorry mate. Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
So It kinda makes sense to include the 'manually' added CalMag into the final EC value then?2-Scoops wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 12:46 pmRe this ^^^^^ So after loadsa pondering i think its gonna be totally different, basically yes cool disregard tap water ec cus most minerals in that, alot of it is calcium carbonate and is too big to be took in by roots from the off where as if using calmag unless its organic i think its generally calcium oxide used that can be taken in by roots more or less instantly. To be honest the grows have been doing fine in terms of the CalMag, it was more my miss diagnosing the underfeeding 'AS' both too much CalMag and not enough - basically head up my arse ;o)

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
Yes but as said previous running with an ec of 1.8 in total lets say 1.2-1.4 base ferts and a bit of calmag aint gonna cause problems with full size vegging plants if using RO water. So it doesnt really change much about how your doing things one way or another. 1.6-1.8ec is pretty much standard stuff for full or nice size plants.Minty wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 9:22 pmSo It kinda makes sense to include the 'manually' added CalMag into the final EC value then?2-Scoops wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 12:46 pmRe this ^^^^^ So after loadsa pondering i think its gonna be totally different, basically yes cool disregard tap water ec cus most minerals in that, alot of it is calcium carbonate and is too big to be took in by roots from the off where as if using calmag unless its organic i think its generally calcium oxide used that can be taken in by roots more or less instantly.
