How do you get thrips in an enclosed grow room?

They can lay dormant in the medium mate, I had them in soil in the 1ltr airpots before potting up to the 20l with coco so I guess I was just unlucky, seem to be on top of them now though fingers crossed, cheers Asp

I must be lucky, as I've only had fungus gnats, and they were easy to get rid of.

The only time i had mites was when I used JI no2 so you saying they didn't come from that coz you've never seen anything? If you don't know how long the media has been stored or how it's stored what you supposed to do?

I've never had the dreaded mites, ever. Thrips - poly only, and they've only gone for the tomatoes. I get fungus gnats in the poly too, but I leave them most of the time as the plants are well established with plenty of roots. I can't close the poly, so anything can come in.

If they came from the medium then it would affect the indoor grows as well, but it doesn't, therefore I know they're not in the soil to start with.

Cheers munch when you say any of the higher bits does that mean I can top any of the heads or does it have to still come off the two heads formed after the original topping ?? I hope that makes sense lol

Also I have been giving them 2 litres each daily but have noticed over the past few days there has been a lot less run off than previously, would this indicate they are feeding more ? or they are storing more ??And should I increase the daily feed to say 2.5 litres each or leave them as they are mate

Top anything up top if you think it's ok to take no problem.

Yeah mate you can up it to 2.5L , I bet they are getting a nice root ball going, be good to see the roots when chopped

Yeah I thought that the other day I’ll deffo remember to get some shots of the root mass after the chop. Mon the topping I’m popping up in a bit so I’ll get a video over and see what you think can go could also do with removing a couple of the fans if possible they have created such a canopy anything underneath is getting zero light at the mo lol still mo sign of the return of the thrip so far so good well in on the advice much

If you got to take 1 or 2 off to open an up for more light get it done mate, just don't got silly, Remove the lover shit too if you want.

I am bloody lucky to not have mites. I've heard of people getting them when they've purchased cuttings.

The wife brings in bugs because she buys plants from the market and other places, but she never quarantines them first.

I'll be growing one auto in the poly this year. I've got a number of basil plants in there already to keep the thrips away.

No signs of anything and nothing moving mate, I was thinking if I could take any fan leaves of should I maybe take a couple of the leaves that have slight damage to them from the thrips as you say 1 or 2 would still help significantly with light access I’ll be brave and take a couple tonight any advice mate ? Snap them off or slice ?? Least stress possible I imagine
