Actually this would not reliably detect a blocked mister as there may still be run off but no mist. Super glued directly above the mister might give a good reading but you would certainly have to test this before planning anything further. It's definitely a starting point and for the cost I would incorporate them into the final solution but will have a look to see if detecting mist (without the use of lasers and led proxy sensors as I guess these would mess with the roots/darkness) by some other means is possible.Minty wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 8:22 pmThinking a little more could you mount that sensor under your mister? ie just super glue to the actual mister? all it would need to do is catch some leaking run off to make a true reading. You put a slight incline on the mounting off it so the water would run off and I think you would be mostly there. I would definitely get some of those sensors a couple of LED's and a battery to see what sort of results you can get.

Re: Minty Grow Diary - GR420 LED Grow Off
Another idea would be to mount a humidity sensor (or 4x) in the lid with a small hole (covered in a fine mesh to add protection from water) directly above the mister(s) with another one mounted in a neutral position to act as calibration. This should allow you to tell if each mister is working to a certain level based on the differences in levels between all the 5x sensors.
Just thinking aloud to be fair but might be something that would work and those sensors are not that expensive.
I would help you with any of the software side if you needed it mate.

Re: Minty Grow Diary - GR420 LED Grow Off
I’ve looked at the humidity sensors too. I’ll have to look more into it in the future. The misters run on an on/off schedule. So, on one minute, off four minutes, on one minute, off four minutes, and so on. I’m looking at a nicer unit that has it all built in already too. Ha.

I'm with it man totally, we all have our situations... thanks againMinty wrote:G3W2HIN wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 11:45 pmI'm on the dabbling side of microcontrollers, I play with them when I'm bored I've made a couple of fun projects, the lil 1306 screen and light up necklaces ,cosplay (worthless toys) and some other things like this personal press under $200 . Clean it, heat it ,control it, reinforce it, press it, smoke it ; ). Repeat steps 2 , 5-6. In that order to enjoy over and over . I built 5, 3D printers and decided to start growing again, so here we are. Enjoying your super awesome creation, thanks again for your share wow . Cheers
Wow man that press looks ace and once I learn more about that side of thing I will definitely be tapping you up for your plans etc.
I'm also just on the dabbling side to be fair mate, total noob until I started, the only difference is that I said 'FUCK IT' to the cost side. I'm spending £100 a week on street weed so if I can make this work I really do think it will pay for itself before long. For me it was mostly about having the plan and the initial funds to set it up and try to make it as easy to control as possible to keep things discreet and off course 'No Smell, No Sell, No Tell'. Last thing I need is to have it all confiscated...

Going to quote myself as an update on the build progress side of things:-
What do you guys think? Anyone seen these devices before or have one?
Cost wise I paid £768 which is about 8 weeks worth of smoke.Minty wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 2:19 amI have ordered a Zero Breeze Mark II portable air conditioner as in theory it should be perfect.
It has an fresh air intake, hot air extract and cold air feed directly into the tent and is advertised as being able to drop the ambient temp by 30℃.
It's small enough to possibly even be mounted in the tent but comes with 3x pipes so could also sit above the tent.
It's portable but I didn't need the battery and watching a couple of videos seems to show that it is not that loud.
Personally I think it looks the ideal solution as it is infrared controllable (I will need to add support for IR to my HydroBox) so can be automated along with everything else.

Re: Minty Grow Diary - GR420 LED Grow Off
Looking a little stressed but hopefully they hang in there until I can the temperature issues under control.
It may well be down to real low humidity as well (my DIY ultrasonic discs just keep burning up) so I have chucked some wet sponges in the tent and that seems to be helping.
Tomorrow I will open the lid on the humidifier which is technically a self filling bucket of water sitting in the tent. If I was to fill this with a sponge and have the fan just blow against it do you think that would help?

Current running stats now that I have the pH and E.C. Probes working:-

Yea, let's not mention the couple of hours I spent debugging trying to work out why my E.C. probe was not working and I even tried to re calibrate it without success.
Finally, resorted to reading the manual and found this useful nugget of information:-

"Irregular reading Huh, more like 0.00 mofo" I can be such a Dumb Arse sometimes - I fecking surprise myself...

Re: Minty Grow Diary - GR420 LED Grow Off
Also got a video of the roots and to me that looks like the start of root rot? Water chiller should be up and running by Monday I hope so they just need to hang on. I might get some ice packs and just stick them in the res.

OK, managed to 'jury rig' some pipes and managed to get the chiller up and running and must say I am impressed. It's a lot quieter than I thought it was going to be:-

Temperature drop Test:-
Current stats which I am now much happier with. Let's see how the ladies look a little later.

Re: Minty Grow Diary - GR420 LED Grow Off
Did you read some of the comments about those packs?
Here are some of them...
Here are some of them...
Very disappointing purchase. I prefer conventional blue-gel cool packs. These water-based packs need to be stored in secure, ziploc bags, otherwise they will coat all they touch in a clear gel on thawing.
They leak a sticky clear goo on de-frosting -- even if not cut.
Good ice packs and do the job, however, I get a bad gel residue from them everytime I use them which makes everything in the cool box greasy! Going to have to find an alternative
These are ok, but you're better off with the big blue blocks. A few of the pockets seemed to split so there was that sticky residue on the cans
