Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
My first grow was PE in soil, did 2 plants 1 was OK other pretty similar to yours, sure I read somewhere that the PE wasn't a big lover of high dose of N, I'd say its just getting to grips with the soil just a bit hot for her, she'll come good

That's interesting easy-t! I'm glad she made it this far and hope it didn't stunt her too much. Makes me feel better though that someone else had similar issues!
cheers!

Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
So, the plants are getting along well, both of them. I started LST on the PE but I am not sure how to do that on the BD... she is so short and bushy already, I don't know how I could improve that with LST - do you have some guidance on that? For the PE which I didn't top because she wasn't the healthiest, I am planning to have the main stem go up in a spiral rather than straight. A slight issue is that we have fungus gnats (I believe) in our flat. These are still from some herbs and soil we bought at B&Q. I have had a filter on the inlet of my tent but it fell off and now they're in my tent - super annoying! I hope they're not satisfied with my cannabis plants which I am trying to not overwater ever but I bought some diatomaceous earth to cover the soil in case there is something coming up.
For now I'm fairly happy though, they both finally seem to have reached a good cruising rate of growth and the PE starts to smell.
This is the PE:

And this is the BD:

So if you have any pointers to how to LST her or if it's even beneficial - let me know!
Thank you!

Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
Wassup Weedabix,
They are moving along lovely. The BD as you say is a nice compact girl and diesnt need LST as the other does. I'd still attempt to keep her level while growing upwards. Depending on how long till youbwant to flip I'd top her all over. Will double your tops moving forward.
As for fungus gnats....b and q.... sounds about right. Luckily they are not as bad as many pests, more a pain in the ass. First step is to get some yellow sticky traps, cheap on ebay. If the problem persists and gets bad a inch layer of sharp sand on top of the pots will shred the little shits leaves as they emerge from the soil. I've not dine this before as enough yellow traps should take care of any issue other than a really serious one. If you do go down the sharp sand route thoroughly wash it before using.
I grow in a out building, I had lots of different pests pop up the first few months. I done some reading and found something called "hot shot no pest strips", they are cheap and seem to kill anything. I've not seen a creepy crawly since using them. Also worth a look.
Hope this helps.

Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
Thanks Keeno, that covered all my questions really well! They're autos and I expect them to start to go into flower soon (I actually hope they'll take some more time) - I'm in the middle of the 4th week. I have topped the BD once - I might leave it at that for now and won't do any more training - I don't wanna push my luck!
I have a sticky yellow tape out and will keep an eye out - if it gets much worse, I'll get the hammer out but until then, I'll probably just leave it be. I'll definitely look into the hot shot strips but I am a bit cautious - I am also growing some basil and rocket in the same tent.
cheers,
Weedabix

4 week update!
It's now been 4 weeks! They both show pistils so I guess I can call it flowering? I have done some LST on the PE and still only the one top on the blue dream. I also gave them the biobizz bloom for the first time. I am at half strength for both (grow + bloom) which is 0.5ml/l. The blue dream just keeps on growing without complaints - the pineapple express I think might have been a bit burned by the nutes? I still haven't figured that plant out! I would love to know! It's those rusty spots that keep on turning up. Nonetheless, they're both growing quite rapidly now and the PE has started to smell lovely, the blue dream is only just changing her smell from something quite leafy to more of a cannabis smell. I am thinking of putting them into their final pots - should I do it or wait?
I also just planted 3 strawberry plants, and my basil is coming along nicely but I can see why weed is such a cool plant to grow: anything other is just boring in comparison to the growth rates and the amazing changes you can see on a daily basis!
