GT's Winter mixed strain run

Post by Grumpy Toad »

I have been racking my brains trying to figure out what to grow next. Damn you Keeno! So after many changes to my lineup.......drum roll please!

Image

Everything in the tent this time will be from the GR420 points store. Rucu Cucu, Runtz Gum, Fast Nevilles, Panty Punch (I don't know about that name) and Melonberry Zoda. Got them all soaking tonight. I was going to start filling buckets but realized I will be short of vermiculite. Home Depot run at O'dark thirty and then back to work.

Things are pretty much the same as last run with one change. I added an AC Infinity 6" oscillating clip on fan. This should take care of any "dead spots" between the canopy and lights. I believe this will improve the tent environment. I am going to use the same nutes (Advanced Nutrients) but I'm changing microbes. This run will use Great White. Lights are set at 200 watts to start.

So far the Melonberry Zoda, Rucu Cucu and Runtz Gum have sprouted. I can see a small white spot on the Panty Punch and nada on the Fast Nevilles. I started soaking another Fast Nevilles and also a Strawberry Gelatti (Sin City Seeds). I should have 5 containers rocking in a few days.

I finally have five seedlings in pots after a couple failed starts. The Panty Punch had a barely perceivable white spot but no real root and two of the Fast Nevilles refused to do anything.

The line up now is:

Bruce Banner (Growers Choice)
Strawberry Gelatti (Sin City Seeds)
Runtz Gum (Original Sensible Seeds)
Melonberry Zoda (Conscious Genetics)
Rucu Cucu (Seedstockers)

Haven't fed any of them other than water & microbes. I'll start feeding tomorrow or next day.

Another week gone by and 4 of 5 are sprouted and doing well. The Strawberry Gelatti sprouted but didn't lose it's shell. After a couple days I tried to help it. Inside it was black. So I have another going, jut poking it's head up.

For the first couple weeks I water around the plugs and the plug itself. I have fed them (filling the 2" reservoir) with Advanced Nutrients Micro, Grow & Bloom. I also added Hydroguard and Great White. EC was .7 and ph 6.0. I fed 95% of it slowly down one spot on the side of the buckets. The rest I fed around the plug. The first three are probably right at the point that the tap root is hitting the reservoir so I should see them start bulking up and day.

If anyone has questions about Hempy Bucket growing let me know. I'm not an expert but I am on grow #9 using this method so I'm getting the hang of it.

I forgot to add: The tent environment is at 57 - 58% rh and temps are 78F (lights on) 70F (lights off). Lights are dialed to 200 watts at the moment.

And Terp Dogg is on duty. So don't you tossers get any funny ideas! LOL

I have not grown the Bruce Banner before. It will be a surprise.

The medium is 2" of perlite in the bottom and a 4:1 perlite to vermiculite mix. Once the stalk gets a little sturdier I will add a layer of expanded clay pellets.

Another week has gone by and things are cruising along fine. I've been bottom feeding the three biggest plants and still feeding the two smaller plants around the plugs. Feed is 6.1ph and .7 EC. Tent is 78F & 57% rh lights on and 70F & 57% rh lights off. I've added a baffle on the oscillating tower fan to keep from beating up the small plants. I'll wait another week and add clay balls.

I might have asked you this before but i forgot Grumpy. So what mix do use perlite & vermiculite or do use just perlite thinking on now ? Also when you say you've been bottom feeding the biggest, does that mean feed through top first to fill rezz in bottom of pots and let plants drink from that ? Cheers

The bottom 2" (drain hole height) is filled with perlite. The balance is a 4:1 mix of perlite:vermiculite. I'll add a layer of expanded clay balls on top soon. I believe it helps keeping fungus gnats away & stops the white surface from developing algae.

And I do fill the rez from the top. I just add slowly in one spot rather than water across the top surface. Once again I think it helps keep critters at bay. Probably a small point but it seems to be working.
