Securing your devices

Post by Bulls »

Nowadays, most of us use the internet via computers or mobile and tablet devices. We like to e-mail, chat and have fun online as well as use it to buy and sell things and research stuff that are not always legal in your own country. At GrowRoom420 security is our first priority. We keep up to date with latest security updates. Remember that nobody is interested in percy grower posting on a forum with few plants! But if you want to walk that extra mile and be extra safe for your own peace here are some tips:

IP address & Email

Most people are concerned about their IP addresses. That's very easy to hide. Just use a VPN. Lots of companies are offering multiple devices if you buy a VPN account from them so that's all your laptops, phones, tablets and etc covered!

Use a TOR Browser or DuckDuckGo browser

Use an email address different from your personal. Make sure your username has nothing do with you(Name, Birth dates, Birth Places & etc.)

Posting Photos & Videos

When you take photos or videos make sure you don't have anything with personal info exposed(Like letters, parcel boxes, tattoos ..etc)

If you're uploading your video to YouTube, make sure you do it in a different account from your personal one.

Most of us are using mobile phones to take photos and videos, so make sure your location is switched off.

Use free software to strip all the metadata from the photos(If you're using GrowRoom420 Gallery that will be done automatically)

Mobile Phones

As mentioned above if you're using your phone, you can get a VPN as well to keep you safe.

Keep your phone well secure with a pin lock, fingerprint, iris recognition or whatever security it offers. Most phones offer App Lockers and Private Galleries so if you're to store any photos keep them locked in a Private Gallery with a different password.

Don't automatically save password and have auto log in function. Typing in your username and password only takes a few seconds but keeps you safe.

I'd recommend deleting all photos, videos and chats related to growing on a daily bases.

Additional security

Make sure you have the latest updates on your devices
Install Anti-Virus Software
Keep your software and browsers up to date
Don't share private information online
Keep your passwords and personal information secure

After all if you're not doing anything wrong, except from growing and being on the forum, you have nothing to worry about. Forum is fully secured and the rest just depends on you!

Also never forget to follow these 3 simple rules:
No tell
No sell
No smell

A MASSIVE addition to this.... Use Linux or bsd etc if possible. Far far more secure than windows :)
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.
