Clean Up

Post by SmokeyJoe »

Hey people

I have a question.

How do you guys clean up post harvest.

I mean where do you dispose of the cuttings and also the plan stem remains.

Im not prepared to dump it randomly but also recognise the risks taking it to the tip.

Obviously the roots are bound to the size of the 10L pot so it's quite large.

Any ideas / comments appreciated.

SmokeyJoe

Don't feel comfortable chucking it in the standard bin lol.

Any more suggestions.

If you have space in the garden a compost heap works well with root balls and dead foliage also in the garden I have a fire pit which i just toss on all the storks and branches etc, and all the other trim the decent stuff gets stored ready for extracts, hash, medibles whatever so all El naturel !!

I usually mix all my coco, trim and stems into a big storage box. Leave them there for a week or two end then just empty them somewhere into the wild on a field or something. When you check in a few weeks time be no single leaf in there but only few sticks

I used to just double bag it with the dog muck and sling it in the wheelie bin on the morning of collection.
Have fun going through that PC Plod!

But now I sling it all on the fire in the lounge or into the chime-wotsit burner thing in the garden.

Thinking about getting a wormery though, I don;t have much trimto get rid of these days, as it all goes to hashing and then that just gets flushed down the bog.

Double or triple bag mine and sling it in bottom of black wheelie bin for men to take straight to landfill, job done. Have done it this way for 15 years and more years now. :)

I bash the shit out of the root ball. The earth goes into a black bag - which is then sometimes dumped in garden, or use it again sometime. The remains of the root ball goes into the waste bin and out with the rest of the rubbish. I make sure there's no stem.

Depending on the time of year, I take all the pots to the local tip along with root balls of tomato and chilli plants.

This thread (smokey's comment specifically) got me thinking about compost and since I've turned an unused water butt into a compost bin. I'm using straw/chicken manure/plant material and giving it a good 6 months to cool. By early next year (fingers crossed) I won't have to buy anymore compost.
I actually asked a pro usa cannabis farmer on instagram what compost compost recipe he used and copied that.
