hi all and thanks for the input on here,i have subbed to the thread now :bang head: my memory is shot....... :i agree:
anyhow just a quick update on the mills coco/cork mix vs ordinary ugro coco, basically dont bother it dries out too quick and i reckon in some systems the cork could cause lots of problems obviously cork floats, where it ends up?clogging all the sodding drain holes on my rtw tray! :idn:
so im sticking to good old simple coco. :bye:

I remember reading about that cork stuff a couple years ago. I do wonder if it would be useful in a soil mix though.

I've never seen a need to add to coco. I was always told it has the perfect air to water ratio when fed. Adding stuff just complicates things in my head.

hi mr nice you should give it a go and id say nearly 100% of folks who try end up a coconutter for life, esp if your like me and useless with mud, coco is simple and easier and gives comparable results to true hydro without all the added tech needed for pure water hydro, mon the coco! :i agree:
speaking of coco im trying out homebase coco its similar to the ugro coco but a little cheaper so far i did hydrate a bit with our tapwater with bg ec of 0.46 and run off reading 0.56 so pretty clean has similar particle sizes to the ugro hydrates well and i shall report how i get on with it,heres link although it says not available in store it is and the one near me had a stack of blocks in stock,

So long as its not too compressed down it has great aeration on its own. These day i always try to add 20-30% perlite to it as well, just helps out if coir becomes to compressed from constant soaking
