Auto Lemon First Grow
Hello GR420!
I started my first grow December of 2019. I decided to go the organic route, but I also wanted to do some experiments. From all my research, I gathered that the plants need more root space in organics so I got 10 gallon fabric pots. I'm growing 2 plants in a 2x4 tent and I'm using an Arduino micro-controller with sensors to monitor and control my tent. 2 x Auto Lemon seeds from Seedsman, I bought these but now realize they give these out as freebies often, oh well.
I stated I wanted to do some experiments, so I decided to just use room temperature tap water for the entire grow. I filled the pots with Roots Organic original soil and that's it for most of the grow. I did no training, I wanted to see how the plant naturally grows, and if it caused any problems.
In November of 2019, Invisible Sun released their R Strip range of lights, and I picked up the 4R XL. This was a busy time for them I guess, because they forgot to include the XL frame for the lights. I started this grow hanging 2 of the R Strips with rope, as I waited for the frame. I received the frame around mid January, and that's when I doubled the output by utilizing all 4 R Strip lights in my 2x4 tent. I ran these LEDs 24/7. At this point my plants were at about 5 nodes and I was supplementing heat with a space heater. The next 4 weeks I had explosive growth as they entered early flowering. Since I live in Southern California, these lights are extremely helpful during the hot spells, they run very cool with enough airflow.
Once they had been flowering for a month (mid March), the plants started to get hungry it seemed like and they were showing some deficiencies. That is when I top-dressed the soil with dry amendments and some earth worm castings. That was it for a while, until the fungal infused biochar and robust compost came in the mail. I top dressed that about 2 weeks before harvest, I don't think that made a difference, who knows. It will mostly be useful for my next and future grows. I have noticed that it keeps the top soil moist and I've seen a little shroom growing recently.
I would have harvested my plants on 4/20, but I was busy getting baked, so I harvested on the 21st! After 3 days of total darkness, I could really see the plants packed on trichomes in that time. I made the mistake of also not watering the soil before the total darkness so my main colas seemed to get dried out/discolored and later they developed powdery mildew I believe, as indicated by the spiderweb-like fluff between the buds.
All in all, this was definitely a successful organic grow and I was able to pull a total of 240g = 83g of dried buds from plant 1, 127g off plant 2, 30g of mildewy main colas. 285w light ran @ 50% for 24/7 in 8 sqft

Re: Auto Lemon First Grow
Nice post. These R range lights are proving they are more than up to HID equivalent. I will hopefully be trying some in the future. As Hmr81 says, Point does well with them as did Mini G on a grow she has just harvested. Welcome to GR420!
