I didn't go anywhere near these levels as I assumed it would lead to salt build-up in the Auto Pots etc but I am tempted to try and push them a little more or try and at least stick to the original plan ;o) I keep fucking up by thinking I am over feeding etc and basically end up starving the plants. Been thinking I might sacrifice the next Auto's and feed them until they overdose just so I can learn the difference ;o)

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
Day 123 - Middle of Week 8 - update
Currently 4 days into the flush of which the plan is to continue for another 10 days which would put them on the recommended harvest week.
Front plant is still looking like a useless twat (Mmm, no idea) but the back plant is looking real nice now:-

What do you think about flushing for so long Minty? I've reduced my flush time lately to 5-6 days as it kinda felt that the plant started loosing it's smell and crystals?

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
If i was using ro water and softwater ferts tbh i can`t see point in using calmag, thinking on did you use it the grow i helped you out with ?Minty wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 8:24 pmI didn't go anywhere near these levels as I assumed it would lead to salt build-up in the Auto Pots etc but I am tempted to try and push them a little more or try and at least stick to the original plan ;o) I keep fucking up by thinking I am over feeding etc and basically end up starving the plants. Why im saying 1.8ec is if adding calmag, theirs really no need ever to go over 1.2-1.4 ec with base ferts in that system and only 1.4 for first 4 weeks before dropping back top 1.0-1.2ec .
Yes salts can build up running at summink like 1.8 ec in auto-pots but i would say its gonna be slowly and 2,3 even 4 weeks before seeing detrimental effects of that build up. You could run that system start to finish growing lush plants in bloom on 1.2-1.4ec without a worry of overdoing it
So if you`ve not been anywhere near 1.8EC in total and are or have been feeding calmag around 0.4ec i think or seem to remember you saying ? Well its prolly nowt to do with calcium of magnesium deficiency and more like underferting with base ferts ec that`s prolly lower than 1.0 at a guess so in reality its not calmag issues and prolly more like underferting with base ferts, but your giving calmag instead and solving nothing when its more than likely simplist fix of lot and just a case upping base ferts and slinging calmag in back of a cupboard.
Hope that bit makes some sorta sense

Re: Minty Animal Cookie Grow Diary - Dex's Special
To be honest mate the whole flushing (when you can even 'flush' from the top) confuses the fuck outta me and from my research the consensus seems to be 50/50 if you should even bother. But when you start looking for specifically the flushing of Auto Pots in which case 'top flushing' is considered a definite no (as the gravity feed nature of the Auto Pot system means all the excess salts accumulate at the top of the pot) so this seems to lead most people to just 'flushing via the res'.
Flushing via a gravity feed Res seems pointless to me unless you are doing it for at least 2 weeks so this is what I am trying...
While I have kind of seen the salt build up first hand in the pots from my Water Melon Wedding Cake grow which was the first attempt using the Auto Pots:-
I personally no longer think this is something that I personally should be worried about and I also think the flushing is detrimental to the plant at least while using the AutoPots so will probably not bother for future grows at least while I am still using them.
I guess just lowering / adjusting the feed as required and using the Dry/Cure cycle as intended should work.
