Day 59

Lights increased to 100% from 80% as they seem to be loving the previous increases. Ill monitor incase of any changes..light burn etc.

Drained about 500ml from the system and put back in Res

Installed Res heater the other day..temps have been hitting 25c in there max so I'll monitor. Ph has remained stable at 6.3 since it was filled about a week ago.

RH reduced from 60 to 50% now

Temps are averaging at 20c atm due to the weather outside.

The tangie is developing nicely..

And the groom is filling out nice:

Nice little
Jungle going in in here. Love it mate , I’m trying to decide what to do with my lighting over the winter , and electric prices etc
In winter I usually run a 400w hps on 24/7 to keep the heat up , but don’t know if that makes sense these days ,
All I’d say is keep an eye on the ph mate 6.3 is a little higher than I would go

Thanks buddy.

I'm running a ish530 led panel at 100% now.

My controller doesn't let temps go below 18c..when it does, the fan heater comes on and heats it up until 20c then goes off. I haven't seen any detriment to the crop yet, if anything..this is the best success I've ever had mate..fingers crossed. No nuts issues, or burn or with light either.

When I load my nutes I set at 5.8..but previously I set at 5.5 to compensate for the current mix in the res as it mixes it will naturally lift the pH higher as its 6.3 in the tank..and also it swings upwards for 1 day. It usually levels at 6.1/6.2.

I also installed a heater and circulator so I've been checking pH every other day to make sure the heater doesn't cause a pH swing etc..but so far so good. The only reason why it was 6.3 is the last mix I made I set it at 5.8 instead of 5.5 and the mix already in the res must have been 6.2.

I need to look at when I need to use pk...other than that it's just been a and b.

Hope you're well mate.

Hi mate

With the cost of running HPS vs led, I guess you just have to work out whether having a heater inside is going to be more cost effective with led or has. Presumably you're running autos if running 24/7? I'm running photos.

Do you have a fan controller?

Yeah winter is always autos as I’m in the garage , lights off means heater on, , no fan controller either it’s on full all the time cause when I had a smaller slower flow I got bud rot ,
I think I’m just gonna go with 400w hps on all the time lol

Fair enough mate. I used to run 600w hps during winter too. Lights on were at night to make best use of the heat coming off the bulb. With autos I also ran them 20/4 I think. But this was my early novice days lol.

You thought of insulation around the tent mate?

I also recommend the ecotechnics evolution fan controller...it works everything out perfectly. You set your desired rh, temps, fans etc and it tries to achieve a good balance.

Insulation round the tent does nothing when the filter and fan is running to control the smell, hot air sucked from the tent in seconds

I would think a fan controller would help massively mate. You can set min and max extraction fan settings..so it will regulate temperature within the tent as well...so although it won't completely solve the problem.. it would probably save you in energy costs as you won't be running the fan at full pelt extracting all the heat. Worth a look mate

Day 62

Major leak with one of the pots

EC PEN failed

20l solution:
70ml a and b
Pk 13/14 15ml
Ph: 5.5

Res had solution at ph 6.3 hence the initial low ph setting but most of that had leaked in so couldn't offset the low ph as much as Id made the feed earlier.

Now its upto the gods

Day 63

Thankfully no further leaks after yesterday.

Topped up the res with 10l more:
35ml a and b
7.5ml pk13/14
Ph set to 5.8
Ec 2.5

In tank readings mixed with solution
5.7ph (existing solution was 5.7, hopefully it will rise a little tomorrow)
2.0ec

I've noticed this before and I believe its due to cold temps when stems start turning maroon:

Image

The lowest the temps ever get is 18c, once it reaches this point the heater comes on and once it reaches 20c it turns off.

Its not close to any fans or air intakes so its not directly hitting cold air etc.

Will this impact my plants? So far its only on one and its still flowering well.
