Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
That's a good light cycle to be fair 20/4 we like to range between 18/6 - 20/4 so your ok.
Why may i ask would you want to have lights of twice a day ??
I cannot say I would recommend it, I would start them off with the light cycle i am going with. This helps getting the plants into a more natural routine as such.

Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
Hi Smokey,
I just turn them off when I open the tent. The reasons are that I don't want the lights be visible in my windows around the corner - people might know the colour of blurple light, and also It's quite bright and probably not good for your eyes to look at the plants in it - I also want to check the colour of the plants. So I have another (white) light in my tent and turn that on and the blurple light off when I check on the plants inside. Also when I want to take a picture. Next time I'll definitely buy a white/full spectrum LED!
cheers,
Weedabix

Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
Thank you Smokes and Momma! (I miss that thank you button already) Checking on them again tonight, they looked like they're not stretching anymore, so it was probably from not having enough light in the beginning when the PE was out but the BD was still in hiding. I noticed the leaves of the PE are curling down slightly, I'll check again tomorrow morning before I get alarmed by it...

Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
Little update: I don't think they are stretching anymore and the second set of serrated leafs is showing... The blue dream (2nd image) looks perfect to my untrained eyes, but I think the Pineapple express' leafs are curling inwards a bit (1st image). Not sure why and hoping it's not an issue! They are still in the propagator and I have yet to water them after 5 days since the potting and first and only watering. Let's see how the next set of leafs turns out and then I hope for photosynthesis to really kick in! The light (chinese blurple) is now roughly 80-90 cm above the plants, temperatures are at about 21C during lights off and 26C during lights on, light cycle is 20/4.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't have any concerns with them fella, they look like some happy girls basking away, and perfect temp range between light cycles.
All in all great work i'd say.
Keep it up

Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
Im in for this one Weedabix.... ive done the piineapple express from fastbuds myself, really nice smoke...
Not a huge thing and you cant really change now but in future, if your doing autos you dont want to be potting up....you want to plant your sprouts into their final size pots because you dont have the luxury of being able to veg for longer and transplanting can knock plants for a week or so until they recover....i always went straight into 10L pots of Light Mix. It will be fine though, have you got any Rhizotonic?...the stuffs brilliant for giving your girls some stress relief after you pot up..
Also be careful with biobizz nutes....there is loads of different ways of using it... you wont need much grow seeing as your going to pot up into AllMix cos its quite nutrient rich.
Anyway... i love an Auto soil grow so will love to see your first grow and will deffo be popping in and keeping an eye on this one.

still some issues
It's still not going great for the pineapple express. It shows some rusty spots which I still believe were from droplets in the propagator but I don't know. The blue dream looks ok maybe the colour is not quite uniformly green but it does look fine to me. I have opened the vents to the propagator yesterday and have taken them out of the propagator today so it's quite a drop in rh for them now which should at least fix the issue of condensation. I hope the next set of leafs brings some long awaited growth to the pineapple express. I want to transplant them soonish but I want to wait for the pineapple express to look happy first.
Any ideas what else it could be? Any deficiency or excess?
cheers,
Weedabix

Re: NSNYGC - First time! Two autos in soil!
I really like how this is showing the speed of soil vs hydro in the beginning stages ( and later in the later stages )
I am considering a hybrid setup next after seeing diaries like yours, and siques tbh for the best of both worlds.
I wouldnt worry too much re the rust spots etc, when she takes a hold, she will fly :)
