Tent smells of fish.

Post by Herbalist »

G'day GR420

So i popped my head into the tent last night and noticed a smell of fish, couldn't smell the plants over it, (unless its the plants that smell of fish) :idn: I was fooked after a long day so couldnt be bothered to investigate further. Checked again before work this morning and it definitely smells of fish. What could be causing this? Not a mold/bacteria problem i hope.

Environment has been consistantly stable the last few weeks. 45-55% RH 18/19- 28°C I did leave some run off in the tray for about 24 hours before i got round to cleaning it out i gave the whole tent a wipe down with some antibacterial wipes before putting the girls back. That was the day before yesterday.

Any ideas what could be causing the smell?
Ta in advance.
God bless.

Normally i water slowly but i always aim for about a ltr of run off from each plant. That runoff is usually collected straight away.

Fishy smell could well be organic ferts, but a stinky bad egg methane farty type stink is usually a sign of root rot. Smell a bit of your run off and judge for yourself. If its a root rot methane, farty, bad egg type of stink then usually its most prominent around your roots and more so at bottom of your pots where rootage can become drenched, it will also stink up in run off.

I haqve had the eggy smell before. That was the roots rotting. Started as an alcohol sort of whiff then soon moved onto eggs and farts!
