LED prebuilt vs DIY

Post by Mafooo »

Ok thinkers. There are so many brands and types of LED grow lights and I am liking so many of them. To name a few I like:

FGI Lighting’s Square - https://forevergreenindoors.com/collect ... grow-light

Spectrum King’s closet case - https://spectrumkingled.com/collections ... -case-140w

Invisible Sun’s ISH265 - https://invisiblesunled.co.uk/collectio ... amsung-led

Quantum Supply Canada’s supplemental light bar - https://quantumsupply.ca/products/uv-spectrum-booster

Spiderfarmer SF1000 - https://www.spider-farmer.com/collectio ... grow-light

And also

The Influence line of RAZR lights - https://fluence.science/products/razr-series/

I am very close to impulse buying these

I also need to look into learning how to build my own LED panels. I was told to check out this youtube video. For those interested:

Does anyone have any insight here? I am looking to install a high powered dimmable panel to drive growth in my 60x60x120 cm shelves

Thanks for putting up with my LED A.D.D.

I've used many invisible suns and no issue, but GMO built a DIY one and also got very good results. I'd say entirely upto you :)

Led gardener website has a very good calculator

The bar/ladder style lights seem to be most popular atm, from my experience this is due to a more even light spread edge to edge. So the centre doesnt have the over power ppfd and are easier to keep the whole space at an even light level and you can thus get the lights alot closer (which with 120cm height you'll probably need)

I'll be honest I didnt click any of the links, but if there is a light that's par map sits 400-700 ppfd edge to edge in the area your planning, that's the one dude

Right on. I appreciate u guys chiming in on this.

I wanted to list back-to-back some links together of the products I have been looking at for anyone here to check out if they havent seen em before.

I also should point out that my growth chamber I am building is being designed to have minimal distance from light to plant as I am actually planning to do mini flower batches in sea of greens in 60x120 sq cm area that is 60cm tall.

I have side illumination that kicks out ~200 micromol but I need an efficient top down lamp that doesnt make heat and can get kinda cozy in a canopy.

Honestly for that distance im not sure your best bet... LED is quite powerful and you might be better with a few very low powered ones like my 28w emergency light I removed the battery from.
