Grafting a Multi strain mother plant

Post by GMO »

Hi growers

welcome to another trial and error thread. this time youll get results as they happen as "i think ive got it planned"

anyways the plan is pretty self explanatory. So on with the show

Plants I have kept for a long while. Well established and ready for abuse (you can see they have taken their share already)

Image

Select a couple branches roughly the same girth

Image

Make a V cut in the planned host

Image

Cut the donor plant into a spike in about the same size and cram into place (ive chosen to use aloe as a gel and to protect the area)

Thats where we are atm. ill check in about a week and let ya know if anything changes in the mean time

thanks for reading

This is just a thought. I would use a twist tie to squeeze the bottom part together onto the upper part. That way they would have good contact . Maybe put a little aloe in between. This would possibly allow fluids to flow.

I think your probably right, the aloe went inside the skin used to cover the join outside. Typlically they use Teflon take iirc to allow the join site to swell and knuckle which is kinda why i went for a soft splint. looking this morning tho, there is a little wilt to the new branch as is to be expected but i did also rewrap the join site with some insulation tape run backwards so the adhesive doesnt contact the site

ill keep updating as things happen
