Re: dukes drobes
hi its weird last harvest i got fed up as you do and just chucked a few dozen buds loose in tinas new freezer and accidently freeze dried it ,as in when i took it out it was still as green looking as when i put it in but at room temp an hour or so after removal from the freezer it was dry and i mean well dried down to around 10-15% at a guess so perfect for oiling or smoking .biosynthetic wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 2:49 pmNo worries buddyYeh I got some stinkin fresh weed in freezer waiting to be washed...
after some reading i find the new freezer is a frost free type and unless its in a sealed container it dries it!never thought of it myself but was surprised when we ran out of bud i smoked the freeze dried and it was smooth tasted good even though it was dark green,as you know we live and learn and this time i doing it on purpose! cheers

Re: dukes drobes
hi all well a sort of sad day has come re the drobes and the oldest drobe built back in 2012 has passed its prime about 3 years ago and is falling apart and prone to unevictable borg headquarters and i think i found the base behind the reflective boiler insulation used on the walls which once was glued on and the only thing keeping it on was the door seal and a couple of hooks and as soon as i undid them it fell off,the floor is weak and doors wont shut even anymore so its going, now searching gumtree for replacement and will try remember to take pics along the way and show how fit them out cheap but effective like, loving the leds from our @forest still and looking forward to getting them fired up one day soon, still waiting for seeds to land on the doormat i do hope they havent gone astray like a lot of my post has before,,,,pics later, peace all

Re: dukes drobes
Shame about the drobe mate
But yeah I been looking at freeze dryers for drying bubble hash and maybe bud? When I read online tutorials they recommend this sort of thing

They cost thousands of dollars, the smallest one is over 2k. But I've also read about people using cheaper ones and even wine coolers etc with good results. Seen some for around £250-300 that look decent and also food dehydrators are really cheap about £30, but I think these would not be good for hash. Gonna try to find out more about them
How long did you keep your bud in the freezer btw?

Re: dukes drobes
ive had other post typical bloody useless post service for you!maybe tomorrow but on the very bright side i stripped the liner from the old original drobe and found the yacht varnish has protected the wood 100% and all it needs is painting white inside and the insulation replaced along with new ducting and jolly good clean of the now 6 yr old non stop used rvk i can see no point replacing it as it functions fine still.
got to go hunt in the shed for the paint and get some gorilla tape but not having to replace it made me happy, all the damn dust behind it meant i have to wear fp3 mask and goggles or spend the night itching and wheezing! i can only do a little bit at a time and have lots of tea breaks but theres no real rush i just hate the drobe room being unearthly quiet, still got oil run to do sunday will take about 4-5 hours and the first 16oz will get oiled ive done the extraction just the evap and reclaim left to go,off for a spliff now then back to work ,cheers

Re: dukes drobes
the food dehydrator is a great tool very cheap and effective for drying for anything but smoking though in a time of shortage of weed i have done a quick dry in it and its smokable all right!i generally only have it dried and in the freezer for a few days as its a lot of weed to have lying around and as soon as the extraction is done the refuse vegetation is incinerated.biosynthetic wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 5:55 pmShame about the drobe mateBut yeah I been looking at freeze dryers for drying bubble hash and maybe bud? i havent yet checked this lot i put in the freezer, also any frost free freezer will dry bud if its not in a container with a lid or clingfilmed you def do not need to spend vast sums on kit my food dryer is so well used and was cheap excelvan is the make and was about £24 i think.if it works for oil i see no reason not to use the same weed drying system for hash, good luck buddy
edit here it is cheap as chips! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350W-Electri ... S2EALw_wcB

Re: dukes drobes
hi herb no sign of the seeds i reckon there lost,so tonight i upset tina as we are skint but i ordered a single tangerine dream a single acapulco gold and a single charging rhino and theres a silver haze freebie it just means i shall have to be careful and ensure i get clones in early and use the veg cab as it was intended rather than flowering in it! so today i spent an hour or 2 on revamping the original drobe i have stripped cleaned and painted the inside white and managed to lift the drobe with careful use of the car jack and got it on some furniture mover wheels so i can move it about all on my own (its very heavy wood) i got some wetroom liner material similar to what i used in the veg cab and has worked very well so im going to make a liner for the bottom half sealed and good and solid and better than crappy black plastic things from the hydro shop that cracked and break after a couple of uses.
i also have been wiring up a decent climate control system which also switches heater on and off when needed doing away with me having to remember to switch heater myself as i have forgot several times and temps plumet quick once lights are out,got to go buy some insulation esp for the rear panel as its thinner board and lets sound out a bit,i be glad when ive something growing again! cheers and pics will be tomorrow, peace all

Re: dukes drobes
Nice! Gotta love a good refurbish. Don't give up hope on the seeds yet. I put 2 first class stamps on it and put it in the post box at the end of my road. Dunno how long it takes like that. I'm a millennial and have never sent a letter through the post like that. Lol. I normally just give anything I want to send to my postman mate but he's in Egypt at the mo.
