Something like this is nifty to check the trichomes. Slap it on your phone camera and use your phone's camera zoom to check them properly and up-close. Job's a good 'un Plus, you can take pics of them at the same time...

Yeah, it's the business. I'll try find a link to the exact one. Cheap as chips and if you have a decent mobile, you can get some really clear shots for very little money.

I would also be checking for mites on the plant the leaves look to have signs of mite damage.
