CBD strains.

Post by Treetrunk »

Can anyone recommend a CBD strain for making oil.
Auto or Photo.
Any tips on making oil would be appreciated as well.
Ideally I'd like a 50/50 split and a 20/1. Thanks in advance.

This is something I have saved away from Viz. I hope it helps you.

Viz's CBD oil process

So I dry my bud till about 60 - 64% RH levels. The normal way.

Then I place in oven with a external thermometer (I use a Fluke 52) to ensure temps are 110'C for 90 minutes.

Then simply put the decarbed herb (CBD) into a large Kilner Jar - I use 1 litre jars here. Crush the dry herb into bits with a wooden spoon, don't go too crazy. Then add solvent. I only use food grade Acetone. Cover the herb completely plus an inch. Seal the kilner jar and shake for a bit.

Now I place in the freezer and come back 24 hours later.

Gauze cloth as a filter and decant the solvent into a bigger kilner jar, refill the old jar with the wet and very cold herb then pour solvent over that same amount as before.

Place both jars in freezer.

Repeat the next day and toss out the plant matter.

Place the jars back in the freezer for another 24 hours.

I use a slow cooker outside with a pedestal fan behind it blowing the Acetone smell away.

Pour all the liquid (will look brown and ugly) into the slow cooker. Power the slow cooker up (well ventilated mate) outside is best, and let it do its thing. Low heat is best you don't want frantic boiling.

Once you are down to the final cm or just less then you can add a couple of drops of water to the mix. This helps get all the solvent boiled out.

Now you wait till the tar like substance which is the CBD oil, starts to bubble slowly. Those bubbles are the solvent gasses escaping. You will see when the oil is ready.

Heat off and use syringes to suck up the oil. Store in a cool dark place and use hot water to heat the goo up when dispensing.

That simple.

Application:

Now there we have an interesting impasse - you see I don't mix the oil with anything. I simply suggest that folks rub a small amount onto their lower gum, and then take a dab of olive oil to clean their finger and gum. The olive oil helps the absorption of what is left.

Alternatively suppositories.

I do also make tinctures with CDB but that is slightly different.

So am afraid you are going to have to find what works best for you if you go the carrier oil route. I suspect that flaxseed oil would be a good one. Yet olive oil will also work and is very good if you put your CBD herb straight into the oil and heat for two hours at 110°C in a pan or a water boiler thingy. That way the resin is infused into the oil from the get go. No need to have different carrier oils.

But CBD that is absorbed in the soft tissue and by passes the liver is always going to produce a better result.

ACDC, Cannatonic and Harlequin are the only ones I have experience with but I didn't grow them, I just used those oils and they're all brilliant for various medicinal applications. Sorry I couldn't help further

Some is for Humans and some for our dogs who have arthritis.
Unfortunately we're all getting old.
Have a great weekend

@Dinafem-Mark

Purple Orange by dinafem is great. One of mine auto flowered but the bud looks fire and smells amazing, and the other plant is big and beautiful.
