Testing soil PH and run off , should i or not ?

Please feel free to go into great detail

The probe that I just bought says you have to grab a soil sample from at least 2” deep and mix it with water before doing ph testing. If you already have plants in pots Id say it would be hard on the plant to access the soil down that far.

Testing runoff, not done it myself, but it is a useful technique to check if something is wring and you need to flush and restart.

What soil you using that you are worried about it? You doing consecutive grows in the same soil?

one leaf loooks like cal/mag problem the rust spots

Waste of time cus its not gonna be an accurate reading, tbh its a good to tool used to get to bottom of problems as Mafoo mentions above, thats if you have one . But your gonna find it really hard to get ph of your medium back right, i dont think adding amendments and top dressing your dirt with them will correct your soils ph either, its far from an instant fix correcting ph of your medium. Flushing to correct ph isn`t gonna work either, you`d prolly be doing more harm than good with that one.

If its ph that`s out i think you could possibly try ph`ing your feeds whether they are organic or not and then also not letting your medium dry out too much in-between feeds either that or start using a salt based fert to stop shit getting worse. I think you may find you`ll be climbing mountains now trying to correct ph of your soil if its out though, especially if your on the organic route, you may slow progression of problems but feck knows tbh.

Are you sure its not just a deficiency of some sort ?

i might well be mate, it's the first time ive had this problem, ive just done a quick test on the water i use and it's coming out over with a ph of 7.6 maybe more (API master test kit)

as you say i should see what the ph is of the feed im adding, ive only got a few weeks left of flower.

This is what I do in soil. If you put in good you'll get good with soil. With the right microbes especially.

Then again. My 1st coco run is in queue....

ive tested the water that i use and its coming out at a ph of 8.6, the soil im using states (• Highly refined with stable pH (peat is pH 6 + contains magnesium limestone))

Lemon juice to lower it ?

Ya GF I use general hydroponics acid to lower my pH. The water out of my tap is around 8.5-8.7 as well. Crazy alkaline.

I seen people use lemon juice, white vinegar, or even powdered citric acid if you dont have any string hydro acid around.

Just use your pH pen. You know. Add a mL, stir, wait 60 seconds, dunk the meter in.

Also i dont know if this is true or not, but I seem to remember being taught that the pH meter should be moved about to get an accurate reading. Like dont just dunk it in still water. Stir it about a bit.
