Light Leaks

Post by wutang »

Good Morning All!

As I'm unable to get a decent grow tent, I'm using my eBay special that I bought back in the day for drying, 80x80x160 for around £40. In the Veg stage no problem, but how much of an issue are pin hole light leaks that run around the seam, during flowering?

I personally think that it will confuse the plant if its lights out stage and natural light gets into the tent. Some argue that its not and then give the 'ol moonlight shining theory.

Would be interested to get your thoughts. I'm going to hold off for flowering until a new tent is available so Im going to have to LST the babies.

Cheers people

or, cheaper still, cover it with an old bedsheet/duvet cover etc.

I dont see it as a problem tbh, star light and moon ligjt exist in the wild.
I find this interesting as even though there is obviously light from the moon outside does that mean the moon light is not a leak? i.e. we don't really know what effect this is having and in the wild it wouldn't be a problem if the plants got seeds as that is mother natures plan no?

:idn:

Probably better to rule out the leak if possible but I would certainly ignore pin holes in the tent stitching (for me at least as my grow is in a dark loft most of the time anyway).

On the same subject does anyone know if it needs to be a constant light leak or would say a flash of light (from a torch, camera flash etc) cause the same issues as a 'more constant' source of light?

I agree with the above. I think a sudden new source of light is what would lead to issues. Ive run many a time knowing ive got a few pin holes or even a bit of kit producing a small amount of light. No harm throwing a sheet over it though or some duct tape.

Nope, no setting and I hate it. Suggested to change it and was shot down in a ball of fire! Once you know you do get used to it but I still fucking hate that you are not at least automatically subscribed to topics you create!

You should complain ;o)
