I know MJ Coco from cocoforcannabis.com advises against bottom feeding as it encourages salt buildup. I think this makes sense as bottom feeding seems to lack the ability to flush residual salts out of the medium, if you feed from the top the old salts can be flushed away. I am currently running a coco grow and after hand watering I have just installed a drip feeding system - let's see how it goes.

I am in the second week of flower and up until now i have been top feeding but leaving the pots sat in the trays so salts have built up and the run off ec is really high. So i have now flushed them today with phd water only....any opinions on what to do moving forward would be apprectiared , thanks

deffo get them raised up out of the run off mate and when you feed try your best to remove it all when your done as leaving it there now will raise RH which you really dont want in flower

some like to use garland trays that are tilted toward the opening in their grow space to make it eaier to remove run off then a couple planks across the tray to have the plant pots sat a couple inches clear makes a very simple but effective system.

i personally run a wilma type recirculating system which is just a low and wide tank under the plants so the run off goes back into the tank and is just reused

Keeno and Bulls your a rhizo system which removes the run off for you to a degree using gravity. you got lots of options mate

Im with weedabix here bud. Coco or soil with bottom feed systems you always want to do a weekly top water to flush out salt and bad pH pockets that form in the grow media

Also wetting agents like yucca powder can help the nutrients dissolve better in solution and travel through grow media more efficiently which helps prevent salt pockets
