I always get para with any of the equipment. I just say a little prayer and leave it to the gods. Oh yeah and the automatic 2kg fire extinguisher above the tent/electrics. For around £40 well worth the peace of mind...I think anyways.

I do have an extinguisher, but can't remember where it is.

At 6 years i'd for sure open the cage and wipe down the blades and clean the cage with an old toothbrush or the like. It's likely working harder than needs to and less efficiently. On a lot of them you can pull the blade assembly right off the spindle make it easier to clean and then can get any hair or fibers wound the spindle off.

I am yet to find a clip on fan that’s any good . I bought 2 of the best 20” fans from the hydro shop and one of them has stopped working and it’s not 6 months old yet it was working I turned it off for an hour and it never started again

It sounds like an bad connection of some kind, normally in a connection but could also be in a cable if it had been stretched or crushed.
Start jiggling wires and poking conections with something non conductive...might help you narrow own the fault. ...

I never did get round to taking it apart. It hasn't stopped working or caught fire, so I think I am good.
