New Section - Online Security!

Post by Keeno »

Welcome to the new online security section!

I want to start by saying that we don’t just claim to be safe, we have gone out of our way to make sure we are using levels of security we have not seen on any other canna forum.

But it can't hurt to have some of the more tech savvy members share some ideas and good practices to use online. So here is a whole section for our GR420 nerds, enjoy!
It's nice to be nice :Stoned:

Get a VPN ( says him not on one atm ) - if using multiple devices consider a DD-WRT or tomato etc compatible router. Connect to your main router via eth and make sure you use diff wifi channels! Any device thats doing dodgy stuff, connect to second router. If using it for videos etc make sure you get one with a fast processing speed.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

Don't automatically trust someone who's joined, just because you recognise the name from another site. It could be someone else.

Just a word of warning, I saw a lot of "free" VPN's are useless. Even some paid ones. Do your research :)

Probably all freebie vpns are unsafe imho, if they aren`t mining your data of where you`ve been and what you been up too to sell onto 3rd parties they`re logging everywhere you`ve been and i reckon that`s just for starters. Nowts free in life unless you pinch it and we ain`t tea-leaves round here

Connect via TOR, make sure your home router doesnt have the default passwords still. Sophos UTM home edition is really cool and free if you can be arsed to set it up and configure it.

Encrypt every device you have, laptop, phone, tablet etc etc.
