Drying in a grow tent - cardboard box?

Post by ReeferSpin » Fri Sep 27, 2019 4:27 pm

Hi growers!

I'm about to do my first harvest, and while I don't think I will yield a great deal (see diary here for the full story first-grow-mephisto-sour-crack-2950), I can only dry in my tent, and the other plant will still be going for a few weeks more I think.

Smell is my main concern.

Has anyone used a cardboard box in the tent?

My tent has an open flap (oooerr) for passive intake, next to the open flap is a oil radiator to keep the temps up. So I have no ability to hook up an intake through a cardboard box, and no room anyway! Tent runs at 22-27 at the canopy, 2-3 degrees cooler on the floor.

Any other ideas?

If it isn't ideal, then I don't mind that much, just seeing if there are any other choices.

Thanks for looking

Reefer

I regularly use cardboard shoe boxes for slowing down the dry, but I wouldn;t put fresh trimmed in one to dry.

I have cut the main stalks off plants removed big fan leaves and larger leaves on the buds, hung then above the light shade and away from the fans.

They take about 5 days to dry. The leaves seem to protect the buds from crisping up too fast on the outside. When I remove them from the stalks, they turn to dust and just brush off with a swift rub of the palm. :oik!:

Lazy way of trimming I know.

Then into shoeboxes for a slower final dry and whack it on top of the fridge. More hay smell than dope.

It does start to faintly smell after a bit, but the real stink returns when it's jarred up.

I used to use paper bags to dry in a tent and continue growing. Never had any issues drying this way took a little longer to dry other than that was a great of drying tbh.
