Welcome aboard... As the lads have said, there's no way that 4" is gonna run that fan, it can be used as a intake instead, just grab a rvk 6" L1 and Rhino pro filter.

Mud is the cheapest rout but... soil is pretty slow showing problems then longer to try and fix, your not in full control of it. i love coco as its hands on and easy if you keep it simple, but just moved over to DWC and got to say i love it so far.

Just make sure you've got everything before you start..

That's all I can say is thank you all you have been a great help so far and fast replies after looking up think I'm going to go the soil route try keep it simple for first time so few more questions (sorry)

1. What soil would you recommend and nutrients?
2. Bit confused by pot size because I've been looking up and they are all different
3. What strain to grow I never realised there were so much I mean literally thousands lol

No need to apologize.

1. Verve multipurpose soil from b and q, mix this with perlite, 70% soil 30% perlite. The perlite helps drainage. Verve is a basic compost, many dedicated canna soils come preloaded with all sorts, the beauty of verve is that its basic. makes feeding much easier. Plant magic oltimers nutrients are brilliant and organic. To keep things simple get your self the grow and bloom versions, magne-cal. There are other products available i can recommend to help your plant along if you want them, but the above will grow a cannabis plant, you can add molasses as a boost during flower.

2. Pot size, between 10 and 15 liters is perfect, have a look on ebay for airpots, they are excellent at promoting root growth.

3. Strains....there are so many as you say. Everyone will have different recommendations, most kush strains are easy to grow and manageable. Norhtern lights is a classic and easy to grow and will produce well if everything is done properly.

Here is a link to a video of how i germinate my seeds, towards the end of the video there are a few tips to starting plants in soil viewtopic.php?f=7&t=88

The best bit of advice i can give you easy keep it simple, patients is key and start a diary, with a diary on the forum the experienced guys will be able to follow your progress and help out with anything you need.

To add what the others have said. If you're growing autos, I find 11 litre pots are ideal for soil. I use Wilma pots (as they're square) and fit well in the tent. Another thing with autos, is that you plant them into their final pot straight away. With photo plants, you'll need to pot up, and you may want a larger pot, although I do grow my photos in the same size pots as autos.
Never give advice. Wise men don't need advice. Fools won't take it.

You dont need to start autos in final pots (thats bull), Loki always repots his and i started my autos(my outdoor grow i did) in small pots and never had a problem, i know they say not too but it dont matter in my experience (but i know nothing lmfao).
Think he'd be better off with a photo to start with, that way hes in control when to flower.

That's my 2 pence worth lol.

I have done both. In fact, I've started off more autos in small pots and potted up than I have starting off in their final pots. I have found that final pots have faired better than the others. Not always, but most of the time.
