also, what your trying to achieve with tying down is to bring the upper most growth tip below the other growth tips. this signals the plant to grow each of the tops more evenly

Right now, they are exactly 1&1/2 months old from germination. I also realize I'm very late in topping them. Did that yesterday morn after reading you folks' posts, so we'll see how it goes. Roots are already coming out the bottom of the bucket. I'm going to have to go with a 10gal I believe. The Auto is growing pistils on a 20hr light cycle. The other is just monstering on with new leafy growth and nodes up the wazoo. No signs yet (and I DO have a loupe) and it's checked on thoroughly daily. Just fyi.
